Use Hashtags to Reach More People On Instagram

Let’s talk hashtags. Personally, I’ve used them to make my content go viral and reach tons of new ideal consumers every day. They can be life changing, but also v stressful if you’re not sure how to use them..

Recently, one of my followers asked, “we’ve been struggling with reach for a good while now, the hashtags just don’t seem to be working at all.”

Okay, so first question I’ll ask you is what is the size of your audience right now. If your hashtags are not performing well on your post and they’re not helping you reach more people then it’s time for you to look at the size of the hashtags.

So if you have an account around for 6000, let’s just say under 10k, don’t use the massive hashtags. Reason for that is your post is going to get lost in the masses of the thousands of people using a large hashtag. Definitely don’t mainly use the hashtags that have over 1 million users. Now, I say *mainly .. hehe listen up..

If you have a smaller audience and chances are, you do, which is great, you can use maybe one or two of those super large hashtags around the 1m mark. When you use the larger hashtags, your post might show up on them for max like 3 minutes. Because of all the activity (people using the hashtag), your post will get drowned out sooner than if you were to use a smaller hashtag.

When you use the smaller hashtags, you’re more likely to trend. Trending means that your post is in the #top9 of that hashtag.

So this is my #1 tip for figuring out what hashtags work for you and your brand.

First of all, you’re gonna need to switch it up. The first time you try all of this, it’s more likely than not, NOT going to be fully together.

So do your research on hashtags. Where are your ideal consumers hanging out, what do they do in their free time, what hashtags might THEY be searching on Instagram.

i.e. you’re an online coach but you’re audience loves travel… start using some travel hashtags.

Once you have a list of hashtags, start grouping 30 of them together at a time.

After you’ve posted on Instagram, wait about 30 minutes to an hour and click through your hashtags.

If you’re on the #top9 of any of the hashtags that you’ve used, continue to use that hashtag and remove the hashtags where you weren’t trending.

This is all just trial and error, my friend!
