San Diego, with its sun-kissed beaches and laid-back vibe, is not just a haven for surfers and sunbathers but also a paradise for coffee and match vibe lovers. I always loveeee going to a cafe or grabbing a coffee at a local coffee shop to elevate my day. In fact, I’ve actually started taking myself on coffee dates every single Friday because it’s a little treat to myself and I really have been enjoying it.

Hermosa Surf Shop Café
Situated in the heart of Ocean Beach, Hermosa Surf Shop Café is more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee; it’s a quintessential slice of SoCal culture. Nestled among surfboards and beach gear, this cozy café serves up delicious brews alongside a laid-back, beachy atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of San Diego living.
Carolines Seaside Cafe
So I had to add this because of the VIEWS and the FOOD. The coffee was pretty average for me, but anything tastes better with a view, right? So I would totally go here, grab a coffee and breakfast or lunch and then walk around on the beach afterwards – so perfect!
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters
Renowned for its commitment to quality and sustainability, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters has become a staple in San Diego’s coffee scene. With several locations across the city, including its flagship spot in Bird Rock and a bustling café in Little Italy, Bird Rock offers meticulously sourced and expertly roasted beans that result in consistently exceptional coffee.
My favorite location is the one in Bird Rock and then I walk down to Calumet park and sip my Honey Bee latte while watching the surfers!

Better Buzz Coffee
With its vibrant atmosphere and bold flavors, Better Buzz Coffee has become synonymous with the San Diego lifestyle. From its flagship location in Mission Beach to its bustling cafés in Pacific Beach and Hillcrest, Better Buzz serves up a diverse menu of coffee drinks, smoothies, and gourmet toast options that are sure to satisfy any craving.
Super Bloom Café
Located right on Mission Bay, Super Bloom Café is a hidden gem known for its Instagram-worthy décor and delicious menu offerings and noteworthy water views. I personally love SuperBloom because of its environment. There are picnic tables to eat at, Adirondack chairs to have your happy hour wine in and it’s just overall such a cute place. I would totally recommend going there with some of your girl friends for an afternoon coffee or an afternoon glass of wine or even a marg! Just the views are fabulous for such a chill environment.
