Just a few hours northeast of San Diego lies the alpine paradise of Big Bear Lake. Surrounded by towering pine trees, this year-round destination offers a serene escape. Whether you’re into winter sports, hiking, or simply unwinding by the lake, Big Bear has something for everyone.

You can choose to head to Big Bear in the Summer months for time by the lake, or my favorite, camping and hiking. There are many trails and spots to hike and camp around Big Bear Lake offering beautiful views and fresh alpine air.

Mammoth Lakes California Hot Springs

For those seeking grandeur and adventure weekend trip from San Diego, Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain are an easy drive from San Diego. In winter, the slopes beckon skiers and snowboarders, while the summer unveils hiking trails, mountain biking, and the stunning beauty of the Eastern Sierra region.

One of my favorite treasures in Mammoth are the Hot Springs. There are endless hot springs around Mammoth lakes because the ground is geothermal. With that being said, always make sure you test the temperature of the hot springs before just jumping in as the temperatures are subject to change.

These hot springs are my absolute favorite!
