Maple Leaf Pass: A Must Do Hike In North Cascades National Park
If you’re only in North Cascades National Park for a day or two, you will definitely want to check out Maple Leaf Pass. This 7.2 loop trail around alpine lakes and up jagged mountains is absolutely breath-taking any time of year.
I personally hiked this in the fall and fell in love with the yellow larch trees that were all over the mountains. But could see how beautiful this would be in the summer or spring as well – the views are just amazing on The Maple Leaf Pass in North Cascades National Park.

Tips for Hiking The Maple Pass Trailhead
Download the map on the All Trails phone app so you have directions even when you don’t have service
Dress in layers – you’re increasing in elevation and depending on the time of year, the top of the mountain can be cold. For example, we hiked this in October and the top of the mountain was in the 30s.
Bring a baseball cap or a beanie depending on time of year. This one is my favorite. Anytime past September, I would probably keep a beanie in my backpack to be safe.
Pack plenty of water.
Before heading out on trails, please always remember the“Leave No Trace” principles. We are only gifted one earth, so let’s take care of her.
